“Himanshubhai, tran freshers avya che to amno resume banavi dejo, kale tamari pase moklu chu”, this were the first words that I heard of Gujjuchaps.
Let me set the context first.

I am Hardik Joshi, B.E. [I.T.], Government Engineering College, Modasa(2003). Given the environment at the time when I passed out, I had no option than to either settle for some uninteresting job in Ahmedabad or to go to Banglore. And I along with two of my friends Nabraj and Dinesh planned for the tougher path. We reached Banglore and also found a place to stay (Patel Boys Hosted, lately famous in Gujjuchaps). But then, what should we do? How should I find a good job? I mean, it’s not easy for a person who has just passed out and that too from a pretty ordinary institute.
For the first month, we were just dependent on TIMES ACCENT (which had hardly one ad for fresher’s) and some known referrals (and I am sure almost every gujju who goes anywhere in the world has one or the other referral in that city).
Now, the situation was such that we just gave few interviews where if the company was big and it was an open interview, I was accompanied with a huge crowd of other freshers. So, Instead of hoping to get a job, I just hoped to get chance to write the test.

One fine morning, the stars changed.
We were directed to Gujjuchaps. We called up the Gujjuchaps Office (Anthony Mension it was) and what a warm welcome we got!! To find such helpful peoples and that also 1800 kms away from home is really amazing. Prior to going Gujjuchaps, we were really depressed and were just losing the hope to get a job. But on the first day itself when we went to Gujjuchaps, we were really motivated by some really great inspirational and motivational speech. Himashubhai personally made our resume on the same day by sparing his valuable time. We were offered every help that was possible including books to study, random quiz by senior group members, HR sessions and ya we also enjoyed the group meetings on Saturay and Sunday. It was amazing.

Now, if I wish to write more and more I don’t think I will end soon. But yet in the closing mention I would like to thank Himanshubhai, Rakeshbhai, Puravbhai, Chiragbhai and all the Gujjuchaps members for making a huge difference in my life.

How do I come to know About the Current Requirements?
I regularly watch the messages posted in Gujjuchaps and that’s how I know the current requirements.

I am also registered with some other groups and I do post some interesting requirements to our group (gujjuchaps).

I have joined Infosys as a fresher. It’s my first company and I enjoy the work environment here. Its really helping in shaping my career. The kind of support I get here reminds me of Gujjuchaps everytime. J

I have included this in my experience with gujjuchaps Section.
But frankly speaking, all the aspects including resume preparation, moral support, interview preparation, technical preparation were very carefully packed and given to me. Sort of, Ready to eat meals.

Can we Improve GujjuChaps with this suggestions…????

I like the way Gujjuchaps works for Job hunting.
But, I would suggest we should also look for technical competency development in the group. Maybe, we can start a technical forum at the homesite where peoples can post their technical queries and we can answer them.
